The first stop of any air show for this publication is the Rotax independent Service and Training Centre booth. They have always made us feel welcome and provided us with a base of operations.
While the Sun-n Fun booth was a big, the booth at this year’s AV2012 really stands out. Located on spaces 265, 266 and 267, right in the center of all 4 hangars, it will be easy to find! We were greeted by RFSC Staff instructor Ronnie Smith and immediately put to work with the set up! Perfect start to a great show! When all was completed, we had time to have ask Ronnie a few questions:
RNN: The booth looks very impressive, tell us about it.
Ronnie Smith: We have the same three spaces as last year, but you will notice that the booth is much bigger than it was at Sun-n-Fun. We have gone to a 30 x 40 layout and tried to create a calm space where people can ask questions and see the new engine. On the aircraft front, we have a AirCam from Lockwood Aviation on display. They flew it up from Sebring to the show with a 912 ULS and the new 912iS for power. From the initial reports, in that airframe the 912 iS had approxiamtely a 15% better fuel consumption with the same load applied. It also heated up quicker. (Note: For more information on the AirCam, please go to http://www.aircam.com)
Tomorrow, Arrow Copter will bring in their new AC20 here, which also has a 912iS on it. From pictures it looks pretty sleek. Can’t wait to see it. (Note: For more info go to http://www.arrow-copter.com)
RNN: Any other news? Any special guests? You know we are going to do interviews later with each guest.
Ronnie Smith: Well, I know there are a couple of big announcements happening. Also, Micheal Stock of Stock Flight Systems will be at our booth this week with his new 912 iS EMU panel. So it will be a great time to ask questions and see the mods he has made. You know it is a great device. (Note: For more information, please go to http://www.stockflightsystems.com/emu-912is.html )
Rotax will have their marketing director here as well, Mr. Christian Mundigler. He will have some staff on hand to answer questions as well.
RNN: Well, Ronnie, it sounds like it will be a great show. Thanks for the info, we will be back.
