MICHAEL STOCK and WOLFGANG REISER AT SNF 2013!

DSC_0024Business partners Michael Stock of Stock Flight Systems and Wolfgang Reiser of Reiser Systemtechnik were at the booth today showing off their second generation EMU for the 912 iS.  The Stock Flight Systems EMU seems to currently have the best interface between the engine computer and display for the pilot. The new version provides additional features, less weight and smaller mechanical dimensions.

The new EMU contains hardware and software to drive a constant speed propeller and revolutionizes the world of engine monitoring by introducing the Power Margin Indicator gauge which informs the pilot about the maximum power of his engine under the given environmental conditions.

RS Aerotech, Ltd. of Nassau, Bahamas is now the marketing and sales organization supplying North America, South America and Canada with the EMU 912iS. For all the latest news, have a look at the RS Aerotech website (www.rs-aerotech.com).  The website also provides quick access to all relevant documents and software for the EMU 912iS.

ROTAX BOOTH IS READY FOR DAY ONE OF SNF 2013!

DSC_0009

It was a perfect opening morning for SUN-N-FUN 2013.  Enough clouds and a light breeze to keep the heat a bay.  A walk from the Rotax booth at the front gate to Paradise City would be nice this morning.

We were greeted at the Rotax booth by a full contingent of iSC technicians from the USA, South and Central America’s.  This is a must stop for any attendees with technical questions.  These are the best they have.  The technicians  from the US included, Kevin Kane of California Power Systems, Brett Lawton from Leading Edge Air Foils and Dean Vogel of Lockwood Aviation.  For kit builder’s looking for years (we won’t say how many, but …) of technical and installation experience, Ronnie Smith from South Mississippi Light Aircraft was on hand as well.

Sun-n-Fun draws a lot of interest from South of the border as well, particularly from Brazil and Latin America.  Luis Gallo of LAG Ultralight and Renato Da Silva from Rotamotores were there to help answer questions in their native tongue.

A special note for anyone coming into the booth is that the new Rotax iS fuel injected engine is on hand and every specialist iRMT from the Service Centres has received training and can answer all your questions about the new technologies used.

The Rotax independent Service and Training Centres will once again be at SUN-n-FUN!  Representatives from the major iSC’s will be on hand to help with your technical questions.

The booth will be located in the same area as last year, but this time it will be right across from the main entrance gate.    Both Eric and I will be on hand to bring you the latest news and photos from the Rotax world!  So stay tuned.

This is an amazing airshow and not to be missed.

Checking of the component temperature of the Electronic Modules for Rotax 912 and 912 (Series)

rnn-tempcheckRotax has requested that all owners (who built their own aircraft) and OEM who produce aircraft with the Rotax 9 Series engines, check the temperature exposure of the Electronic Modules.  Please click on the image for the full Adobe PDF.  You will need a PDF Reader like Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.

Overview:
This is a simple test to see if your installation allows for proper cooling of the electronic modules.  If your tests indicate that the temperature is within the limits, your installation provides enough cooling on that part.  If not, then you will need to adjust the design of your installation.

Importance:
Very.
This is an important test, as excessive heat exposure on the  electronic modules  may lead to a total failure of the ignition system, resulting in an engine stoppage.

Stock Flight Systems introduces Engine Management Unit for the new Rotax® 912iS aircraft engine.

Farchach, Germany (March, 12th, 2012) – Stock Flight Systems has successfully flight tested the Engine Management Unit for BRP’s new Rotax® 912iS aero engine. The 4-cylinder, 100HP engine was officially introduced to OEMs, media and distributors invited for the event at the BRP-Powertrain factory in Gunskirchen on March 8th, 2012. In addition to being the most fuel efficient aircraft engine for ultra-light and light sport aircraft, the new Rotax® 912iS also features a dual redundant electronic Engine Control Unit (ECU).

The EMU 912iS of Stock Flight Systems communicates with the redundant CANaerospace data bus interface of the ECU and provides the pilot with all engine indications. The functionality includes continuous monitoring of the network health status, and the indication of all ECU generated warning and status messages. An optional fuel pressure sensor is included in the data display.

The EMU 912iS software automatically records all ECU messages transmitted on the redundant Rotax® 912iS CANaerospace networks for the entire engine lifetime. An integrated, front panel accessible SDHC interface is used for data acquisition storage, system configuration information and software upgrades.

Included with the EMU 912iS is the Engine Monitoring Debriefing System (EMDS) software, a powerful toolbox which uses the data files recorded on the EMU 912iS SDHC card. Among other features, EMDS allows data visualization and replay in engineering formats and the export of the data into other formats.

The 4Hz GPS/Galileo sensor of the EMU 912iS adds time correlated satellite data to the engine data recording, allowing to generate performance data from the combination of engine data with position, ground speed, height and time. Flight paths together with engine data can be visualized using Google Earth.

The EMU 912iS has been successfully flight tested at altitudes of up to 18.000ft, and temperatures as low as -18 degrees Celsius.
